Installing Blackmagic Drivers

Installing Blackmagic drivers requires a restart of the computer, and the administrator password.

Blackmagic recommends running the uninstaller before the installer if you already have a version of Blackmagic Desktop Video installed

  1. Under Select a Product Family, choose Capture and Playback

  2. Below, on the left side is a column called Latest Downloads

  3. Find the desired version of Desktop Video, and select macOS

  4. You will be prompted to register. Skip this step by clicking Download Only in the bottom left corner

  5. Once the download is complete, open it from the Downloads folder to unzip the folder.

  6. This will create a file called "Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_xx.x.dmg". Double click this file.

  7. A window will open up that will include the installer. Double click the green icon titled Install Desktop Video xx.x.

  8. Follow the prompts to navigate through the installation process.

  9. Input the administrator username and password when necessary.

  10. Restart your computer when prompted.

  11. While the computer is restarting, plug your device in.

  12. Perform a firmware update for your device if necessary.

  13. Navigate to Mac System Preferences then search for Login Items

  14. Ensure the Blackmagic Design Desktop Video toggle is set to enabled

  15. Click on the i in the Camera Extensions row

  16. Ensure the Blackmagic Desktop Video Driver Extension is set to enabled

  17. Click Done

  18. Click on the i in the Driver Extensions row

  19. Ensure the Blackmagic Desktop Video Driver Extension is set to enabled

  20. Click Done
